10 Steps You Can Take To Guarantee Failure

Quite a funny little post: 1. Make your goals vague - When setting your goals, use adjectives such as “more” and “some.” Goals like “I want to make more money” or “I want to lose some weight” virtually guarantee your progress will be minimal. Be as wishy-washy as possible. And while you’re at it, you might want to set a goal of getting a job doing something. 10 Steps You Can Take To Guarantee Failure » Achieve IT!

No Ideas But In Things

Nice simple site about challenging the usability in everyday items. When I say simple I mean it, its a collection of images. But its about a frame of mind in challenging the things we are used to rather than having a heated debate. No Ideas But In Things

Wireless Web

Interesting article, wap appears to have come and gone, O2 are really plugging imode. Perhaps its time to revisit the mobile web. RSS feeds are the most interesting use as they would seem to fit perfectly. Any good RSS readers for phone use anyone? As I have occasionally mentioned (in The freedom of mobile Internet access, for instance), I frequently use my mobile phone to browse the Web. It works really well on modern sites that are accessible, use semantic markup, and separate semantic and presentational markup. It works reasonably well on many other sites, and is a real hassle Read more - 456 Berea Street

Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk

My powerbook is nearly three years old and badly needs an upgrade. Saw dabs have a 320Gb external drive for £75. Which is amazing, but there are simpler ways: While you could replace your current hard drive with a larger model, or install a second internal hard drive if your Mac will support such, the following tips will help you to free some space without changing your hardware. Bloody pricey screens!

Ive been wanting one of these screens since they came out, im a big apple guy but this is pricey and always has been. A 20" screen is £529.00 which doesnt make sense considering you can get a mac mini for £299 or an iMac for £679.00. But then when I look at the other options.... a 20" dell is £401.85 Lets face it.... im going to wait and get the Apple.. If only they would stick an iSight into it, then I could justify it. Come on apple make my Christmas!! Strangest thing is apple have stopped selling iSights, just ones embedded in screens.. Apple Screens Dell screens

Steve Wozniak - 'Apple didn't need NeXT'

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak doesn’t believe that Apple should have bought NeXT, the company that provided the foundation for Mac OS X. The purchase of NeXT – run by Apple’s other co-founder Steve Jobs during the time he was not working at Apple - came at a time when Apple was suffering from an onslaught of bad publicity due to perceived faults in OS 7, which was suffering from crashes. Macworld caught up with Wozniak while he was in London promoting his biography iWoz. In this book Wozniak claims that the OS 7 crashes were linked to running Microsoft Internet Explorer, rather than the Apple operating system. He says that his own research made it clear that people with IE installed on their Macs were suffering from crashes, but those who used alternative browsers, such as Netscape, were experiencing no problems. Wozniak’s theory was not given credence at the time because IE did not have to be running for the crashes to happen. Read the full story

Edinburgh is getting trams!

I didnt know about this, excellent! In March 2006, the Scottish Parliament voted to pass the Edinburgh Tram (Line One) and Edinburgh Tram (Line Two) Bills. Trams will offer a new transport choice to the growing population of Edinburgh. Trams are reliable, frequent, easily accessible and are able to carry many passengers, with the additional ability to load and empty quickly. Edinburgh’s tram network will help reduce the need for car journeys. It will ease congestion and provide environmental benefits through improved air quality. With an integrated tram and bus network, travel around Edinburgh will be quick, easy and comfortable, be it for work or leisure. View the site
