Irish internet usage - statistics

Belfast agency Bluecube have posted some interesting facts on Irish internet use. Well worth a look: 49% of all Irish adults (1.69m individuals) identify themselves as internet users. With varying frequencies, 87% of these connect from home, 33% from work, 13% from school, and 8% from internet cafes. Of the 42% of all Irish adults ever connecting from home, 77% have broadband in-home. A majority (53%) of internet users have made some type of online purchase within the last month. Most significant past month online purchases include:
  • Flights (29% of all internet users)
  • Concert/Cinema etc. tickets (18%)
  • Hotels/Accommodation (17%)
  • CDs (10%)
  • Books/Magazines (9%)
  • Music Downloads (8%)
  • Mobile Phone top-ups (8%)
  • Clothing (7%)
  • Government Services (7%)
  • Online Auctions (6%)
  • Electronic Goods (6%)
